Crocheters Block
I've never experienced this before. I feel a bit flustered... I don't know what to crochet these days. I start all kinds of patterns, but don't fall in love like I'm used to. My Etsy shop is in my mind all day and I wonder what to sell, and if my work is good enough. I'm afraid the yarn ends will come loose, or it deforms after washing or stuff like that. I know, I'm a bit of a wimp!
I've been postponing this moment for over a year now. It makes me kind of nervous. It's quite a commitment, if you ask me. Well, others might disagree... It's just an online shop. But I have to make sure my work is high quality. And I have to send it on time. And on top of it all, I will have to learn how to work with Paypal... Been postponing that too.
I feel like such a nerd. What's the big deal? I can just open up the shop, see if anyone would like to buy my stuff, and make a little money during the process. No big deal. If no one wants to buy it, I just close the shop, right? Or wait a bit longer (patience is not my strong point). I know, I KNOW! I just have to JUMP. Gonna make the pic's next week. And the text too.
I did find a lovely color combination yesterday. And am trying to make a new pattern for some coasters. Yes I know, AGAIN... I just love them so much! What d'you think?
One more note. I came across this post at Dada's Place. She used my pattern and I'm in love with the result. It's so much fun to see how others use your pattern. I also like the change of the center. Works perfectly. Oh, and I absolutely LOVE her colors! Go over there and check it out.
Anywho, this was an extra post. I will see you all on monday!
Have an uproarious day! (I could have said stormy, but liked this translation better... It's gonna be a stormy day here in Holland).
I so share your views and concerns sync all I can say is that I have just this week opened my etsy shop and I suspect sakes will take some time but you know it's a big selling platform and you have nothing to loose, so go for it!! There's no pressure like your own website and it most probably is a good starting point. I'm sure you will do well. Xo
ReplyDeleteThank you Hannapat. That reassuring! Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. I have thought about having an Etsy store but unsure of my work. You do beautiful work so I'm sure yours will do good. Best of luck.

Hi Jenn!
ReplyDeleteI totally know what are you talking about. I'm the same. But, think that you don't have aany reason to worry about. Your work is really outstanding, and when you open your Etsy shop, I'm sure you will be very successful.
Thanks for mentioning my work, here on your lovely blog! :)

It's nice to hear that you recognize this. And thanx for the reassurance. I just need that sometimes...
ReplyDeleteI love your designs and your yarn colors are so vibrant!! Would love a pattern for all of the designs you showed in this post especially the 3 colored star!!! Etsy is not terrible to set up once you get going, I have "The Red Hen Shop" to sell fabric and PayPal is pretty straightforward. Since you have such a great blog you will probably do very well with a shop and your workmanship looks fantastic, so I think you will be very successful.
ReplyDeleteHi Melody, Thanx for the reassurance. I'm sure I'll be fine. The star patterns I found on pinterest. Just right down crochet star and you'll find lots of nice patterns. The coaster patterns are probably gonna be for sale in my etsy shop in January. See you!
ReplyDeleteI can understand what you're going through. But by looking at your blog you just must be successful with an etsy shop :) Lovely colour choice, good technique and you know how to use a camera :) So i don't see why you shouldn't be successful :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
